1. Overview
Social Fieldwork ("we", "us", "our") operates the website socialfieldwork.com and related pages (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit or use the Platform.
We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and applicable provincial privacy laws where they apply.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to visitors and users of the Platform who are adults aged 18 or older and who access the service from Canada, as described in our Terms of Use.
The Platform is not directed at minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
3. Information We Collect
We collect only limited categories of information, because the Platform is free and does not offer accounts, payments, or real-money wagering.
- Contact information you choose to submit — such as your name, email address, subject line, and message — when you use the Support Center contact form.
- Technical information your browser may automatically send when you load pages, such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, and approximate request timing. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.
- Age-gate confirmation stored locally in your browser (see Section 6).
- In-session game state (virtual session credits, scores, and similar values) held in page memory while you play. This data is not saved to our servers.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect payment card numbers, bank details, government ID, or other financial identity data. We do not operate real-money deposits, withdrawals, or prize fulfilment.
5. How We Use Personal Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use your contact details for unrelated marketing without your consent.
- To respond to support enquiries you send through the contact form
- To operate, secure, and improve the Platform
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use
- To protect the Platform against abuse, fraud, or technical harm
6. Browser Storage (localStorage)
When you confirm the age gate, we store a single local value — sfw_verified — in your browser's localStorage so you are not asked on every visit. This value stays on your device and is not transmitted to us as a standalone record.
You can remove it at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will require you to confirm the age gate again on your next visit.
7. Third-Party Services
The Platform loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests those files, Google may receive technical data such as your IP address and user-agent string under Google's own policies.
We do not embed advertising networks, social login providers, or behavioural analytics trackers on the Platform.
8. Retention
Support messages and related contact details are retained only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterward — typically up to 90 days — unless a longer period is required by law.
Server logs, if any, are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or aggregated.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures appropriate to the limited data we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights (Canada)
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. You may also withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, or challenge our compliance with PIPEDA.
To make a request, email support@socialfieldwork.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
11. Cross-Border Processing
Our hosting or email providers may process data in Canada or other countries. Where information leaves Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. We take steps to use reputable providers and limit disclosure to what is necessary.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change when we do. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
